“My intention is to create a space for change; to educate and enlighten others on the value of proper nutrition, and to support them in their transition to happy holistic living.”

Raised in a Mexican-American family by a single mother of three, Dee (Torres) McCaffrey had to overcome many obstacles. Most significantly, she overcame a lifelong battle with obesity.
At age 31, as a student at San Jose State University in Environmental Chemistry, Dee discovered a link between consuming certain processed foods and obesity. At 210 pounds and 4’10”, She eliminated those processed foods from her diet and as a result lost half her body weight, going from 210 pounds to 110 pounds in one year. She made it a lifestyle change and has maintained a 100-pound weight loss for over
15 years.
She wanted to counsel others on how to lose weight and eat healthy too. Dee then founded
The Center for Processed Free
Living (the Center), which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit
dedicated to eliminating childhood and adult obesity through nutrition
education to young and old. For more information about the
Center, go to www.processedfreeliving.org.
Dee recently released her first book Dee's Mighty Cookbook: Tasty Cuisine for Flourless and Sugarless
Living. The book is chock full of practical information on how to lose weight and improve health naturally with over 100 of Dee's private recipes. As an added bonus, the book includes the homemade version of
"Dee's Mighty
Muffins", the popular flourless muffin sold throughout the Southwest in Wild Oats Markets and Sprouts Farmer’s Market stores.
Dee holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Chemistry from San Jose State University, practiced organic chemistry for more than 16 years, is a Certified Diet Counselor trained at Bauman College in Penngrove, CA and is a member of the American Association of Nutrition Professionals.
